
The Mahomet Area Youth Club (MAYC) is looking for individuals who love to work with kids to assist during summer break and/or spring break.
Counselors are responsible for a group of 15 to 20 youth on a daily basis. They must ensure safety, manage behavior, act as a role model and mentor, and model constructive participation in all daily activities. They will work closely with the Programming Director and Executive Director to implement programming and to ensure the safety of all youth. Counselors, with the help youth where appropriate are also expected to assist in cleaning up during the day and at the end of each day to ensure facilities are kept neat and tidy for continued use. Counselors should be at least 17 years of age.
All Counselors must participate in 1.5 days of training before the Clubhouse opens for summer. Mahomet Area Youth Club will be open for summer from June 3rd through August 9th from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Counselors are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Coach Willard coached in our Mahomet-Seymour Jr. High boys' basketball program for the past 15 years & has decided to retire from coaching for us. The Board of Education of Mahomet-Seymour CUSD #3 is pleased to announce the hiring of Mrs. Megan Hunter as the new principal at Lincoln Trail Elementary School. She will be officially appointed at the February 11, 2019 Board of Education meeting, and starts her position on July 1, 2019. Mrs. Hunter replaces Mr. Jeff Starwalt, who is retiring at the end of the school year after serving the Mahomet-Seymour Schools for 19 years, the last seven as principal of Lincoln Trail. Mrs. Hunter had served as a behavior interventionist in the Mahomet-Seymour Schools for three years, and has spent the 18-19 school year as assistant principal at Lincoln Trail Elementary. Prior to holding these positions, Mrs. Hunter was a special education teacher in the Williamson County (IL) Special Education Cooperative from 2005-2013. From 2013-2015, Mrs. Hunter was a special education teacher in Carbondale Elementary School District #95. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University and is working toward her Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
“Mrs. Hunter has demonstrated her leadership in the district for the past four years, and her background and expertise are an excellent fit in transitioning to the principal’s position at Lincoln Trail,” said Board President Max McComb. “We look forward to having Mrs. Hunter lead Lincoln Trail into a very exciting time in our school district.”
Hunter’s salary for the 2019-2020 school year will be $89,000. Mrs. Hunter and her husband Jason reside in Mahomet with their daughter Katie.
